With a background in traditional education, Jessie Frye entered the salon and wellness industry in 1999 beginning in customer service, and working her way up to Senior Director/Stylist Manager/Educator at Modern Salon and Spa, then eventually onto owning her own salon - Curation and studio - Blue Orchid. Her experience has touched every part of the beauty industry from front desk and scheduling duties to payroll, product inventory and presentation, photo shoot and fashion show styling, hair cutting and coloring, training other stylists and professionals, to managing stylists challenges and successes, as well as business building techniques.
In 2002, Jessie began formal training at Paul Mitchell The School in North Carolina where she participated in additional extracurricular opportunities including Design Team, Product Knowledge Team, and Phase 2 advanced academy. Upon graduating, Jessie then spent over 8 years at Modern Salon and Spa here in Charlotte. Modern quickly utilized Jessie's experience in yoga teaching and education to provide training for their employees through classes, location meetings, assistant training behind the chair and through their new talent salon - Mantra, as well as Stylist Manager and Senior Director. During her time at Modern, Jessie continued to educate herself at advanced levels including Advanced cutting and coloring with Aveda Advanced Academy, Presentation Advantage, 4-Mat Training, Red Chocolate with David Adams and Virginia Meyers, Hair Color Magic with Lupe Voss, and much more.
Since leaving Modern Salon and Spa in 2012, Jessie has continued her passion for her own professional and personal development, as well as developing others by partnering with her husband, Eric Frye, and opening their salon, Curation and stylist artist studio, Blue Orchid. Together, Jessie and Eric offer independent stylist studios, one-on-one stylist mentoring, hair cutting and coloring education, and yoga and reiki in addition to providing a full time schedule of client services. With the freedom of operating their salon and artist's studio, Jessie has expanded her professional training to include Reiki certification through Reiki Life Academy, Advanced cutting, styling, and coloring with Davines, Davines Color Educator training, Davines World Wide Hair Tours in Italy & Iceland, Vidal Sassoon Academy, Educator Training with Sally Rogerson Education, and teaching with Sally Rogerson Education for the last several years. Curation and Blue Orchid have allowed Jessie and Eric to combine their interests in wellness, beauty, and education with success.
